Refresher Nursing Course

Learning Outcomes/course outline

Our Refresher Nursing Program is designed for currently registered nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia to update and refresh their knowledge and competency in acute care nursing. This course has been developed for nurses who wish to enter into acute care setting, or would want to move from one role to another, like management/education/research roles to clinical or from non-acute area like aged care.

The course builds on preceding knowledge and skills by educating and presenting the nurse about modern requirements and responsibilities of the contemporary nurse.

CPD: 75 points

Duration of course

This refresher course is run over 1 week of intensive educational sessions.


All participants are required to complete a one week placement in an acute health care facility.

This course will examine and revise the following

  • Australian Healthcare System
  • Ethics and Law in Nursing
  • Professional Practice in Australia
  • Patient safety and risk management
  • Effective communication for healthcare profession
  • Reflective practice and clinical practice in acute care
  • Healthcare across the lifespan from child and community through to aged care.
