Provide CPR and Manual Handling

Our CPR and Manual Handling training is a quick refresher course open to all health professionals who require re-certification or refreshment for employment or study. On completion of Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation  training, the participant should be able to demonstrate resuscitation of an adult and infant in cardiac arrest. Adult CPR consists of the following steps, which should be performed sequentially:

  • Check for risks to the victim, any bystanders, and yourself
  • Assess the victim to be unresponsive
  • Open the airway
  • Establish absence of normal breathing
  • Alert the ambulance service
  • Perform chest compressions
  • Give rescue breaths
  • Maintain CPR with the correct ratio of chest compressions to rescue breaths

 

The foremost cause for injury in the workplace is poor manual handling techniques, resulting in considerable deficits both in cost and loss of productivity. On completion of Manual Handling the participant should have the following:

  • Knowledge of safer moving and handling techniques including the use of hoists and handling aids.
  • The skills to identify risks related to moving and handling people. The skills to identify risks related to moving and handling people.
  • An understanding of the ergonomic principles of safer moving and handling. An understanding of the ergonomic principles of safer moving and handling.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Hours:     

CPR = 2.0 Hours

Manual Handling = 2.0 Hours

Entry requirements

This course is specifically for healthcare providers who require a certificate to maintain currency for employment or study.

Duration of Course and Cost

Each unit is run over 2 hours and participants can enroll for individual units or combine them. 

Single unit fee: $50

Both units fee: $90

Assessment

Assessment of skills will be carried out at the end of the training, using a simulated incident and a resuscitation training manikin and observation of correct CPR and manual handling techniques.

CHCCCS002 Assist with movement
